Age is nothing but a number! Join Global Education Center in welcoming the Ballet Plata y Oro, a group of senior women ages from 62 to 83 who study and perform both flamenco and Mexican folkloric dance traditions.
Some of these amazing women, who are of Latino or Hispanic heritage, danced folklorico and/or flamenco in their youth while others are experiencing these dance forms for the first time. This performance will be a fun cultural event that helps to bring some of the most invisible Americans, our senior New Americans, into the light.
There will be special performances by Teresa Champion, Chayito Champion and Global Nashville Project, presenting the contemporary dance, «Braid», featuring stories from our local immigrant and refugee communities.
This performance is funded in part by a grant from South Arts, in partnership with Tennessee Arts Commission, National Endowment for the Arts, and Metro Nashville Arts Commission with additional support from HCA/Tristar Health.
